Wind or rain make any of these feel a rung colder: dress for the one below.
Yes, but a light one. 50°F is cool rather than cold: a tee alone is too little, a winter coat too much. One light layer does it: a denim, leather or suede jacket, a trench, a chore coat, a blazer or a cardigan. In the midday sun you may take it off, so wear something underneath you're happy to be seen in.
A long-sleeve tee, a light knit, a shirt or a thin turtleneck. Cotton and fine merino are ideal; a heavy wool sweater is for colder days. Full-length jeans or trousers are right; shorts and bare legs are too cold for most people. Light colors and lighter fabrics, like cream, stone and washed denim, suit 50°F better than winter's dark wool.
Wind makes 50°F feel nearer 40°F, so close the layer: a trench or a zip jacket instead of an open cardigan. In rain, a trench coat or a light water-resistant parka over a knit, and leather shoes instead of suede or canvas.
A trench or a leather jacket over a fine knit, straight jeans or wide trousers, and loafers, ankle boots or sneakers. A midi skirt or a dress works with a light knit on top and boots or loafers; add tights if you'll be out after dark.
Layer pieces that each work alone. A shirt or tee under a light knit under an unlined jacket gives you three outfits in one: all three in the morning, two at lunch, one in the afternoon sun. Choose a jacket that looks good carried or tied over a bag, and shoes that suit all three.
Cool. Most people want long sleeves and a light jacket at 50°F, and a warmer layer once the sun goes down.
Yes: a midi or long-sleeve dress with a denim or leather jacket or a trench, and boots or loafers. Add tights for the evening.
Most people find it too cold for shorts. If you run warm, wear them with a sweatshirt or a jacket and closed shoes.
Closed shoes: loafers, leather sneakers, ankle or Chelsea boots. Sandals are too cold, and canvas sneakers are fine only when it's dry.
A light sweater, yes: a fine merino or cotton knit on its own, or under a light jacket for the evening. Save chunky wool for colder days.
